5/20: Building winds and moisture.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 5/20: Our dry slot is holding early but today will be a day of transition as a trough pushing into the west moves through from the northwest to southeast. Look for a sunny start with high gusting winds building into the afternoon with increasing cloud cover and showers into tonight. Strong winds could produce small hail and temperatures will drop overnight with a few flakes possible into Tuesday morning.
Temperatures: Lows dropped to 26 for CB and 31 for Gunni. Highs will climb early to 73 for Gunni and 65 for CB. Lows will be milder with the wind and cloud cover at 36 for Gunni and 31 for CB.
Outlook: The base of this trough will be moving through the area on Tuesday bringing cooler temperatures with gusting winds and a rain snow mix. Temperatures will drop by 15+ degrees from Monday’s highs but the snow line during the day should stay above the valley floors and around 9500ft. Skies will clear Tuesday night opening the door to a very cold start to Wednesday but a sunny day will allow a fast rebound for a milder high with that trend taking us through Friday.
