More sun in the mix but the same afternoon threat.

TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 7/17: High pressure is continuing to move into the west and this has shifted the dominant flow to the northwest. In the short term this is pushing the moisture back through our area and we are looking at another day a lot like yesterday with mostly sunny skies early giving way to scattered thunder cells through the afternoon. There will be more sunshine in the mix today but stay prepared by the afternoon with storms dropping in from the northwest off the higher terrain.

Temperatures: Lows were warmer with just enough lingering cloud cover with CB reporting 46 and 52 for Gunnison. Highs will hit 81 for CB and 85 for Gunni by the afternoon. Look for lows tonight about the same or slightly cooler.

Outlook: Western high pressure continues to feed onto the area through the middle of the week pushing the southern plume back to the southwest with drier air taking over. More sun and drier conditions will mean warmer highs through Thursday with just a little cooling as we see some moisture being pulled back into the flow for the weekend. So far it looks like just enough for an increase in afternoon thundershowers but worth keeping an eye on for weekend plans. We are back to Stage 1 Fire Restrictions but be smart.
