5/5: Batten down the hatches.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 5/5: We are sitting on the mild front edge of a strong system that will be blowing into the area through the morning. Winds are described by the NWS as a once in 10 year event with gusts to 60 down low. Moisture will be moving in behind the winds and we will see mild temps serving up a rain snow mix through the afternoon continuing as snow into Monday as a cold front moves in. This will likely mean snow to the valley floors.
Temperatures: Lows were warm at 26 for CB and 35 for Gunni. Highs will reach 64 for Gunni and 53 for CB. Lows will drop to 19 for CB and 26 for Gunni.
Outlook: Winds remain a part of the forecast through the beginning of the week but should taper starting Monday with the cold serving up a chilly day with remnant moisture. A rain snow mix will hold through the day turning to snow overnight with that trend holding through Tuesday. The cold front will keep chilly highs in play through the middle of the week with lows in the teens for CB and 20s for Gunni. We should warm and clear to close the week but lots of variables remain in play.
