Check out this shredit of Ed Dujardin getting after during the 2019 spring in the CB backcountry. When the goods are good you should probably keep skiing them, right?! And the CAST system rules. PS. Check his 2019 mini golf edit here. Ed Dujardin Spring 2019 from West Elk Project on Vimeo.
The competitive junior freeride season wrapped up in Kicking Horse, British Columbia last week at the IFSA North American Junior Freeride Championships. Ten percent of the overall field is invited to crown the finals’ winners and overall champions. After a hard-fought season earning points to get invited, the CBMST sent 11 athletes up to champs, […]
If you haven’t yet seen the videos of West Elk Project co-founder Ed Dujardin teeing up some awesome lines this season on the @shredwardstomps Instagram, you should check out his mid-season POV edit. It features a hot soundtrack from A Shadow of Jaguar and a bunch of lines from the Crested Butte backcountry, CBMR, and […]
Crested Butte Mountain Resort played host to an IFSA junior regional freeride competition on Saturday under a mix of cloudy skies and flat light. The classic Colorado chalky hard pack snow that we all know and love so well here in the Elk Mountains was ripping and skiers ranging from 12-18 showcased their skills on […]
Mikey Curran has been putting together some awesome local content, not to mention his job for MSP Films, for more than the last few years. He got after it with local all-around great guy, Ryan Sullivan, to make this cool, woodsy-feel edit of mountain biking in CB. Check it out! FALL FLOW from Mikey Curran on Vimeo.
Nimbus Independent tells another awesome story in this short film about Chris Bentchetler. With a classic soundtrack and rad cinematography, Bentchetler explains his connection between skiing and his other passions, growing up with snowboarders, and what it means to design an awesome ski with a company like Atomic. As if it would be a surprise, […]
Dane Tudor and Naish Ulmer came to Crested Butte after one of our first snowstorms this fall, and absolutely crushed it. From snowy alpine down through the playful aspens at Evolution Bike Park, these Scott athletes weren’t afraid to get after it.
I had the privilege of being a chaperone for the morning section of eight year old Aksel Lindenmeyr’s successful attempt at 7 Hours of Banana. The event was a ton of fun, especially because they had not opened the front side since the storm. In addition to Banana, we ventured further over to get freshies […]
SheJumps held a retreat in Crested Butte this past weekend. They capped off their stay with a trip to Irwin, where they took advantage of Irwin’s plentiful snow (341 inches to date). Some rad skiing happened.
Skiing and fly fishing go hand in hand. Although very different, the emotions and feelings they bring out are quite similar. Spring in the mountains, when the rivers are melted out but the snow still on the ground, is a special time. Find Your Water: Season 1, Episode 2: Cutties & Couloirs from Redingtongear on […]
Dane Tudor dislocated his hip last season. This season, he’ll be back stronger than ever. Considering the way he dominated CB freeride competitions and opening segments in the movies, that says a lot. We look forward to what he has in store.
The FWQ 4-star event Crystal went down last week with Crested Butte’s own Mark Mikos and Ashley Bembenek winning the Men Ski and Women Ski titles! Rob Vandervoort was there laying it down on his snowboard and was able to take 7th. Our own Ed Dujardin went down hard with a broken femur but is […]
It’s the ultimate Chinese Downhill, from the top of Fernie Alpine Resort in British Colombia. $20,000 prize, winner takes all. You have to have serious balls to compete in Enemy Lines. Congrats to Stan Rey for taking top honors in a stacked field of badasses.
Here’s a quick video to jump start your week. Check out Tim Burr doing some good, old-fashioned meat-hucking over a classic CB line pioneered by Seth Morrison. And yes, he held on to the landing.
After closing it’s doors this fall, Voleurz is back for one last edit. These guys have the most fun in skiing (check out their last short film, Kill Your Boredom). It has us wondering if this is the first of multiple comebacks. If that’s the case, we dont care. We will keep watching.
