10/23: Into the dry slot.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 10/23: We are into the drier edge of this trough with the concentrated southern plume moving east leaving us with mostly sunny skies this morning. Regional radar and satellite imagery clearly show drier air pumping in but the atmosphere remains well saturated so expect possible convective thundershowers this afternoon as we heat up. Many rivers are at flood stage and saturated soils mean conditions primed both flash floods and surges in runoff so be smart about any river crossings.
Temperatures: Lows have remained mild with CB again the coldest at 35 but everyone else in the low to mid 40s. Highs range from warmer in Salida at 64 to Telluride holding at 49. Lows tonight will depend on when the next round moves in but clearer skies will mean colder lows.
Outlook: The western edge of this trough will move in early Saturday with less total moisture but a definite refill for wet conditions through Sunday night. As the pattern pivots temperatures will drop and the snow line will come down likely reaching some valley floors with a few flakes. This will mean potentially slick travel and more rain mostly Saturday afternoon through early Sunday so plan accordingly.
