5/16: Entering a dry slot.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 5/16: Drier conditions have set up early over our area with a trough approaching from the northwest clearing us a dry slot as yesterday’s moisture is pushed east. Expect a few clouds in the mix through the day with very isolated showers possible late in the afternoon but nothing to change plans over.
Temperatures: Lows dropped to 27 for Crested Butte and 34 for Gunnison. Highs will climb a degree or two to reach 60 for CB and 65 for Gunni. Lows tonight will look the same.
Outlook: We are into a drier trend that will allow temperatures to slowly climb into the weekend with mostly sunny conditions dominating. A split develops in the jet with the southern branch drawing subtropical moisture through the 4 Corners while the northern branch holds up by WY. The result will be a thin dry slot through the weekend with just a glancing blow Saturday potentially providing fuel for a shower or two into the afternoon. This is something to watch but not necessarily plan around.
