TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 10/21: We are seeing the front end of these tropical remnants moving through the 4 Corners early and, with GJs precipitable water reading already at .6”, there is a high probability of heavy rain potential. This will spread in from the SSW which favors the San Juans but is a little more hit or miss for the Gunnison Valley and points east. Expect spotty sun early to feed the convective machine with thundershowers for the afternoon and heavy rain into tonight with a snow line holding around 12,0000ft.
Temperatures: Lows straddled the 30s but CB was the coldest at 26 with Telluride at a balmy 39. Highs will stay warm reaching 66 for Salida but cooler in Telluride at 50. Lows tonight will be anomalously warm and above freezing at all valley floors.
Outlook: These tropical remnants will come in warm and very wet with the snow line high enough for rain to 12K+ which will add the rain on snow melt of the early snow pack to flooding concerns. The more southern trajectory of this flow will make it thin with the heaviest moisture hit or miss but inches of rain could fall through early Friday. The colder low moves this moisture out and brings temperatures down through Friday but this pattern is still developing.
