Vision Quest: A Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Video Contest

We’re stoked to say this is happening.  Introducing the West Elk Project Vision Quest, a backcountry edit contest that will take place this February 7th through the 20th in the mountains we are fortunate to call home.

Crested Butte, CO –  The West Elk Project Vision Quest 2014 will bring together some of the best and brightest up and coming talent in ski and snowboarding for a backcountry showdown. Teams of 2-6 will have 12 days in the field to scout, shoot and edit a short video (5 minutes max). Videos will be reviewed by The Vision Quest Shred judging panel and social media fan voting. A $5000 cash purse and prizes will be awarded for the top three videos, stand out athlete, the fan vote, and more categories to be announced.

Video judging will allow the West Elk Project Vision Quest 2014 to feature an extended event window. There are three primary advantages to this format including safety, snow quality and competitor flexibility/availability. The West Elk Project Vision Quest 2014 contest period is scheduled between a few notable ski/snowboard events taking place around Colorado during February 2014 including SIA, the Subaru Freeride Series at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, and the Aspen Open. The extended event window will allow competitors to participate in The West Elk Project Vision Quest 2014 while remaining available to fulfill other obligations and work on other projects.

Vision Quest Shred and the West Elk project have already paired with several local sponsors but continue to search for parties interested in supporting this new and unique event. Sponsorship of the West Elk Project Vision Quest 2014 will provide sponsors with direct access to almost 100 competitors, hundreds of local ski and snowboard enthusiasts and tens of thousands of internet viewers with expressed interest in backcountry skiing and snowboarding. Please check out or email for more information about event and team sponsorship opportunities.
