Crested Butte’s Rob Vandervoort joined a crowd of Buttians headed to Telluride for the Freeride World Qualifier stop.  Here is his edit and writeup.  Congrats to Rob for taking fourth, as well as Mary Boddington for topping the podium again.

From March 20 through March 23 Telluride, Colorado hosted the Subaru Freeride Series, an extreme skiing and snowboarding competition. This was a 4* Freeride World Qualifier event, attracting many of the best riders and skiers in the world to compete in an attempt to qualify for the 2015 Freeride World Tour.
My journey began in Crested Butte, Colorado. After hitching some rides, soaking in hot springs, and sleeping a few nights in a 1970’s camper van, I found myself in beautiful Telluride.
Day one of the event was held on Review, a steep, technical pitch with options for every style. The weather was great and nearly everyone seemed to stomp their runs. Crested Butte’s Mary Boddington qualified in 2nd place behind a girl competing out of Russia. Mark Mikos scared everyone but stomped his line (not unusual), and also qualified in 2nd.
The final day of competition took place on Dihedral Chute, and included the venue from the previous day. The weather deteriorated throughout the day, but the riding just got better. Mark Mikos skied like a crazed animal, and finished 7th. Mary B managed to stomp a fast, clean line and secure the win, her second of the season.
I managed to pull off a 4th place with two days of fast, smart riding. I want to thanks everyone who helped me with a ride, with ski passes, and especially Adam and Rachel for being amazing hosts. Thanks to Telluride, MSI, and everyone else who helped put this event together.
