WSCU Adventure Film Festival Kicks off Wednesday

wscufilmfestflyer

The 2nd annual WSCU Adventure Film Festival is bringing 3 nights of great action sports films to Gunnison this week.  MSP Films’ “Superheroes of Stoke” is playing Wednesday, followed by the Grand Inga Project’s “Congo” on Thursday, and “Reel Rock 7” will close the festival on Friday.

All films will be shown at the Ruby Cinema at the Prosser Theater on campus.  The films are free to Western students with their student ID, and only $5 each night for the rest of us.  Doors at 7, the shows start at 8.  Great prizes and giveaways from Contour, CBMR, and Rock ‘N’ Roll Sports among others are worth your attendance alone.

Members of the WSCU Mountain Sports Team are putting on the event with huge help from the main sponsors: Red Bull, the WSCU Student Government, the Program Council, and Wilderness Pursuits.  After a successful inaugural event last year, organizers Sam Degenhard, Noah Metz, Spenser Li, and Daniel Horrocks decided to give it another go this year.  With outdoor and action sports becoming more and more of what draws students to Western, it makes sense to put on an event like this in a great location like the Ruby Cinema on campus.  “We really want to represent the whole outdoor sports culture here at Western, support the scene, and kick a little back to the WSCU Mountain Sports Team,” explained Sam Degenhard.

With these 3 amazing films being shown at Western, a bunch of swag, and probably some Red Bull, student or not, you should probably get down there to see these films.  Check out the trailers below, and if you haven’t yet, read our review of MSP’s “Superheroes of Stoke” if you need convincing to go tomorrow.
