We at the West Elk Project would like to say thank you to anyone who has served our country in the past, present, and future.  Whether or not you agree with our foreign policy, you should acknowledge the sacrifice that the members of our armed service have made.

The 10th Mountain Division was created as a mountain warfare unit in 1943.  Here is an interesting piece produced by NBC on the 10th Mountain Division during WWII in the Italian Alps.
We’ve also included a clip of 10th Mountain Division and WWII Veteran Dick Over at this years SIA handling next years JJ’s, comparing them to the skis he used in combat over seventy years ago.

*This is a re-post from last Memorial Day.   Have a great weekend!
