Rob Vandervoort made sure to have a lot of fun over closing weekend at CBMR.  As usual in this town, tons of fun was had at the various party spots on the mountain, including the Snowblade Extremes, the Pond Skim, Peak Party, Ice Bar, and Butte 66! Enjoy this video and all the hilarious names! You can click to Rob’s CBMR Blog post here.

“On the weekend of April 4th and 5th Crested Butte Mountain Resort celebrated the closing day of yet another ski season. The weather was perfect, everyone was in costume, and it was a party.

The festivities really kicked off Friday night when Joel Lewis and Ruth Monte were named this year’s king and queen of Flaushink. Saturday saw the Snowblade Extremes in addition to the Slush Huck, which featured the rail jam and pond skim. The competitions were followed by a huge party on the Butte 66 deck.

Sunday the celebration continued. I managed to find my way to the peak where a few dozen folks were partying until four when over a half dozen ski patrollers casually kicked everyone off. I also found a party at the Ice Bar, on Flaushink Hill above the Ice Bar, and the ditch next to the Ice Bar. After the lifts had stopped spinning it felt like every local in town was at the Butte 66, the Avalanche or some other slope-side establishment celebrating yet another season’s passage.

Thanks to CBMR, CB Ski Patrol, our beloved visitors, and of course all of Crested Butte’s amazing locals. It is because of you that this place is so fun.”
