Lift Served Summer Skiing in Montana

Summer camp looks fun these days

You don’t have to go to Mt. Hood or Whistler to get lift served summer skiing.

According to Newschoolers.com, the second annual Beartooth Summer Session will take place on Beartooth Pass in Montana June 20-23 The four day lift accessed event will include a big mountain/slopestyle competition, a backcountry day hosted by Beartooth Mountain Guides, and a free ski demo from 0N3P skis, one of the session’s principal sponsors.

Summer skiing at Beartooth Pass began in the mid 1960’s as a training area for Olympic ski racers.  The area was purchased in 2002 by Red Lodge locals who have kept poma lifts running every summer (weather permitting).  The highway running through Beartooth pass creates plenty of easily accessed road-lapable  backcountry terrain such as the Rock Creek Headwall.

Although information is limited, the Red Lodge Summer Ski Are is set to open to the public from Memorial Day Weekend until early July.  You can find out more information on the Summer Session’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/BeartoothSummerSession
