Irwin Climbing Wall Grand Opening

Irwinclimber

As part of its expansion into a year round resort, Irwin Outfitting and Cat Skiing Company (formerly known as CS Irwin) will debut its new climbing wall next Tuesday, July 17th from 4:30 to 8:30 pm.  The climbing wall (which made an appearance at this years 4th of July parade) is located at Irwin’s town office at 330 Belleview Avenue.

The 32 foot tall climbing wall features three different sides to accommodate a variety of skill levels. The grand opening is free and will feature food, music, and information about Irwin’s operations.

During regular operations, the climbing wall will be open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4:30 to 8:30 pm through September 15th.  A season pass will be available for $60.  Drop in sessions are available for $25 an hour.  You can also receive guided climbing lessons that include belay techniques and knot tying.

Irwin is in the process of expanding its operations from solely a cat-skiing operation to a 5-star resort that can take advantage of all that the West Elks have to offer.  Activities include, but are not limited to: whitewater-rafting, mountain biking, fly-fishing float trips, boating on Lake Irwin, and hiking.  Moreover, these activities come with gourmet picnic lunches and beverages.  Irwin’s website boasts, “You name it and we’ll make it happen with custom itineraries, easy logistics, elegance and adventure.”  To make this happen, Irwin will be working with Adaptive Sports Center, Scenic River Tours, Crested Butte Mountain Guides, Fantasy Ranch, and Crested Butte Angler.

We look forward to Crested Butte’s first man made climbing wall.  Come on out next Tuesday for a good time.
