Trent Bona Photo_2011 Bike Stock 6

Announced earlier this week that some of the Hartmans Rocks Recreational Area are now open. Here is the scoop for Gunnison Trails!

Conditions: March 26th, Yes it feels like Spring and mtn bike riding is soon to be the sport of choice. A reminder, Hartman Rocks has specific area closures by the BLM for Sage Grouse Management -from March 15th through May 15th.

March 26, 2012 – Hartman Rocks is open north of the Powerlines Road. Please remember that the following trails, roads and areas are closed to bikes and motos until May 15, 2012 for Sage-grouse protection:

Outback
Bambi’s
Skull Pass
Aberdeen Loop
Back In
Sawtooth
9-0
All roads south of the Powerlines Road.
Aberdeen Quarry Area
Also, there is still snow and mud on north facing aspects. If it looks muddy and snowy ahead, consider turning around. It’s much better for our trails and for your bike. The whole place will be bone dry before you know it. If you must press onward, please stay directly on the trail; don’t create additional resource damage by riding around snow and muddy sections. Thanks!
