Gunnison River Festival: Schedule of Events

The Gunnison River Festival’s 10th anniversary at the Gunnison River White Water Park is this upcoming weekend. The festival will have representatives from National Parks Service, BLM, Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy District, Office of Resource Efficiency, Coal Creek Coalition and the high Country Citizens Alliance. There will also be a large array of river activites including flat water citizen races for kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle board. Other activites include a fly casting accuracy contest, canine big air competiton and the infamous inflatable rodeo. The beloved build your own boat Hooligan Race and the USA Freestyle Kayaking tour remain big parts of the festival. Saturday, June 23, 2012
Curecanti Kayak/Canoe Race- 7:30AM registration, 8AM Le Mans start at Elk Creek Marina.

Competitive Raft Race- 8:30AM registration. 9AM Le Mans start at Rocky River Resort.

Community Float- 11AM – 3PM Sign up for a time slot, meet your shuttle at the White Water Park.

BoaterCross- 11AM White Water Park.

The Inflatable Rodeo- 11:30AM Any Inflatable welcome.

River Board / Stand Up Paddling Exhibition – 12:30PM start at White Water Park.

Hooligan: Build Your Own Boat- 3PM start at White Water Park. COSTUMES!

Fun On the Gunnison!- Try out Kayaking, an Inflatable, SUP… This is your chance to get on the water and play at the White Water Park.

Foamy Boat FUN- Free Kids Event. 10AM-on. Pre-register, get your kit and create your own boat.
