After getting caught in his first avalanche last year while filming for the Pirate Movie Productions film “Perceptions” in Alaska, pro snowboarder Gigi Rüf reflects on the lessons he learned and why the avalanche happened in this short video. The big takeaway: Don’t rush into the backcountry after heavy snowfall! We are all tempted by the lure of the freshest powder, but that’s when we are most vulnerable to ignore warning signs and get caught in a bad situation. Luckily, Gigi was able to walk away from this one and humble enough to share his experience with us.
