Mark Saturday, March 9th as a day you should probably get off work for. Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s annual spring concert, Festevol, will take place on the same day as Colorado FreeSkier’s Big Air on Elk. In addition, CBMR will be hosting an IFSA Junior National Series big mountain competition that will take place during the day.

Although details are not confirmed, rumor has it that this year’s Festevol will feature: The Wailers, Pete Kilpatrick with John Popper (of Blues Traveller), and Twiddle.
One of Crested Butte’s signature events, Big Air on Elk is back for its sixth year. Elk Avenue is blocked off and packed with spectators who watch a snowmobile tow skiers and snowboarders in to a large jump right in downtown Crested Butte. All proceeds from the event go to the Crested Butte Snow Sports Foundation. Colorado FreeSkier (in it’s fourth year of sponsoring the event) has organized the event to be air on local television as well as streamed live on the web at ColoradoFreeSkier.com. Last year’s event was won by local boy Kyle Anderson (snowboard) and Breckenridge’s Pat Goodnough (ski).
Despite an already action packed day, be sure to check out the IFSA Junior National Series competition that morning on the resort. Junior freeskiers from around the country will descend on Crested Butte to try and capture the title. However, the homegrown talent including tour favorite Matt Evans will be ready to defend their turf.
