The Eye of the Condor is back. Returning after a successful inaugural contest, The Eye of the Condor is a week long film and photo competition that will take place at La Parva, Chile from July 27 to August 4th. Last year, the event was won by Dubsatch Collective, a group of young guns primarily from the Wasatch in Utah. Judges for this years event will include freeski legends Chris Davenport and Ingrid Backstrom.
La Parva is situated in about 30 miles from Santiago along with El Colorado and Valley Nevado. Athletes will stay at the resort or in the tiny town of Farellones. The area is small and a ton of fun, so it is likely to be just as much of a party as it will be a ski competition.
New this year, the event will run in partnership with IF3, the International Freeski Film Festival. After the week, the competition descends on Santiago for a one night film festival and showcase. The winning edits will be featured at IF3 events around the globe.
That being said, Crested Butte has a strong contingent of skiers who make their way to South America for the FWT events during our summer. We also have some talented photographers and filmers. Somebody should go represent. Pisco sours await you.
