E.J. Poplawski sustained a life changing accident at the Crested Butte Tele Extremes in 2006. The Utah based athlete hit a tree, that resulted in an above knee amputation. This is the story of his recovery back to skiing. Segment from Powderwhore Films, The Pact.
Words from EJ Poplawski: This is the story of my accident, rehab, and return to skiing. It shows my full crash (beware its a little graphic), my hospital stay, my rehab in the gym, getting my fake leg, learning to walk, working on my technical skills, my first day back on snow, and then skiing pretty fast on groomers and fresh powder snow. Special thanks to Jonah and Noah Howell of www.powderwhore.com for taking the time to come and film with me and going through hours and hours of my own footage to put this amazing video edit together. Also a really HUGE!!! thank you to Jarem Frye (K12 Prosthetics) who was the first man to come up with the idea and design the first high activity knee on the planet. I am forever grateful for what he has made possible for myself and hundreds of amputees around the world. Many have since copied his idea and violated his Patents. Also Connie and Onno at ALTA ski resort for always seeing my potential and giving me a seasons pass at ALTA every season since losing my leg!!!
