Here is an update from Gunnison Trails

The BLM and other land management agencies are praising valley trail users for heeding seasonal closures this spring. You just have to continue this most honorable attribute until midnight on Saturday.

Yes, all of the following trails will still be closed on Saturday: Bambi’s, Outback, Skull Pass, Aberdeen Loop, Back In, 9-0, Sawtooth

However, the good news is that at 12:01 am Sunday, you can ride all of them until you drop.

MANY THANKS TO ALL TRAIL USERS WHO RESPECTED OUR LAND MANAGERS AND THE GUNNISON SAGE-GROUSE BY NOT POACHING THESE TRAILS DURING THIS VERY CRITICAL TIME IN THE ENDANGERED BIRD’S LIFE CYCLE!

May 14, 2012 – The gates at Hartman Rocks that we’re used to just flying through are all going to be closed for about the next month as the local rancher will be grazing cows in the area. These guys are great to work with and have been very supportive of recreation at Hartman Rocks. New, dated signs will be at each gate and until they are replaced with signs stating that they can be left open, all gates need to be securely closed at all times. Please do your best to be certain that the gates latch securely; sometimes they swing clear “through” the latch and are not secure. They are spring loaded but they are not foolproof. If you find the gates open, please close them. Here’s a list of the gates and locations: Small green gate on Fenceline Trail at the top of Water Treatment Trail. 2 small green gates on Joshos Trail. 1 wire gate near the Powerline Road on the trail that leads to Sawtooth and Bambis Trails. (The rancher was kind enough to install, it his expense, a narrow cattle guard crossing at the top of Bambis Trail that you can use to avoid this gate. It’s a little bit farther depending on where you are and where you’re going but you won’t have to get off your bike and mess with this wire gate.) The really big green gate on Enchanted Forest climbing up toward the Powerline Road.
The small gate at the top of Jack’s Trail will likely be locked closed.

heard a rumor that some people were hitting 401 as an out and back and it was mostly dry. Have you guys heard anything? Obviously the uphill from schofield is still buried.
