The Crested Butte Hat Tournament is back. CB Hat is an ultimate tournament for players of all abilities and experience levels to come out and enjoy. The weekend will consist of a pre-party Friday (don’t miss this), Ultimate Tourny followed by dinner and free party at the Talk Saturday, and disc golf on Sunday (optional). The theme of this year’s CB Hat is superheroes, so get your costumes ready!
Don’t know how the Hat Tournament works? Don’t have any experience? Don’t worry. At registration, participants will mark down their playing ability on a 1-10 scale. They will then be assigned a team based on these scores in attempt to create the fairest teams possible.
Tournament director Jeff Scott explains, “The CB Hat has been a classic, fun, and quality Hat Tournament for many years. Crested Butte, at 9000′ creates a “breath”-taking opportunity to chase plastic, camp, partake in costume with like-minded hooligans!.”
The cost of the tournament is $30 per person, $35 in person. This includes beer throughout the weekend and breakfast on Saturday. This year’s sponsors include Teocalli Tamale, Talk of the Town, and Romp Skis. Camping is located just south of Tommy V field.

Friday August 3rd:
4:00 pm – Pre-party – Rainbow Field registration, pick-up, field games including ultimate, double disc and frickets plus beer and socializing.
Saturday August 4th:
8:00 am – Rainbow Field breakfast and final chance to register (until 8:30).
8:50 am – Tournament announcements, teams announced
9:15 am – First Round of games begin (All games are soft capped at 1:00 and hard capped at 1:15).
10:45 am – Second Round
12:15 pm – Third Round
1:45 pm – Fourth Round
3:30 pm – Fifth Round (Semifinals)
5:15 pm – Sixth Round (Finals)
6:30 pm – Dinner on the fields followed by awards and spirit awards
8:30 pm – Gather at Rainbow Field for the bike parade
9:00 pm – Bike Parade to Talk of the Town for the party. Free beer, DJ and dancing, pool, etc. Party all night.
SundayAugust 5th:
9:30 am – 5:00 pm – Crested Butte Mountain Resort chairlifts open for downhill biking,
10:00 am – 2:00 pm – The Crested Butte Farmers Market is open.
12:00 pm – Meet at the disc golf course in town for a free disc golf tournament. Announcements, break into groups, etc. Beer will be available on the course, bring a container!
12:30 pm – Disc golf tournament starts
