We’re having déjà vu. The CB Extremes have been postponed. You can read the official press release below. Basically, we need this high-pressure sitting over the western United States to get the F outta here and for it to start dumping or else we might be facing another year with out a comp. Supposedly the event organizers are looking at the end of March to have the event, we will let you know as the details come available. The 2-star event will be rescheduled with the 4-star event.

Subaru Freeride Series First Stop at Crested Butte Postponed
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (January, 22, 2013)- Salt Lake City, UT based Mountain Sports International (MSI) regrets to announce the first stop of the 2013 Subaru Freeride Series (SFS) at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, CO, originally scheduled Feb. 6-10, has been postponed due to unsuitable snow conditions. MSI and resort officials are working together to determine the rescheduled event date, most likely near the end of March. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is slated to host both a 2-star and 4-star Freeride World Qualifier event.
“Due to conditions we are forced to reschedule the competition at Crested Butte until snowpack improves,” said SFS Event Director Bryan Barlow. “We are looking forward to a snowy February to make the event as successful as possible for athletes and fans.”
Event officials will release the rescheduled date as soon as possible. Riders are encouraged to follow the SubaruFreerideSeries.com or www.facebook.com/FreerideWorldQualifier for additional updates.
”Although we have some snow in the forecast, it is not enough to get our Extreme Terrain open at this time,” says Laci Wright, Events Manager for Crested Butte Mountain Resort. “Our mountain takes a lot of snow to fill in areas for the event venues and by postponing the event, this will allow more time for the snow to fall and be able to pull of the FWT event with great success.”
The Subaru Freeride Series is made up of three 4-star Freeride World Qualifier events in the United States. The Freeride World Qualifier point system (FWQ) has been developed as part of the newly unified SWATCH Freeride World Tour by The North Face (FWT). FWQs range from 1 to 4-stars and enable athletes to earn a corresponding ratio of points based on their performance at competitions. The 2-star events provide an additional platform for athletes to earn Freeride World Qualifier points with the top five men and top three women advancing to the 4-star day of competition. Accumulated points immediately affect an athlete’s position on the FWT ranking system. The top ranked athletes will qualify to participate on the 2014 FWT.
