Countdown to Opening Day: Remembering Asher Crank

asher

Welcome to our Countdown to Opening Day series.  During the 30 days leading up to opening day at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, we will be featuring a clip or edit from winter in the West Elks. This is video 2 of 30.

Asher Crank was well on his way to attaining his dreams of becoming a pro skier when he passed away in a ski accident at Copper Mountain on January 14th, 2007.  Despite the fact he passed six years ago this January, Asher’s impact on the Crested Butte community can still be felt today.  Everyone admired and looked up to Asher.  Childhood friend Grant Spear recalls, “Asher had the smoothest style and made everything look easy. There were days when he would learn a new trick, and it looked like he had been doing it for years. Every day I ski, I feel like Asher is still there shredding with me.  There is hardly a day that goes by that I don’t think about him.”

This edit was made by Asher’s friend Pearce Roemer.  Follow Asher’s Facebook group here.
