Holy Schnikeys!! Get stoked everybody we are getting the new zone, Teo 2, christened to the public at Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Saturday morning at 9 AM. Check out the press release below! Quick note: we heard the first 100 people will need beacons on Saturday morning!

“MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – FEB. 25 – After a big announcement in November of the possibility of expanding skiing and riding to an area called Teo 2 at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR), recent snow has given ample snow coverage to open this terrain for the first time ever. Teo 2 is an area just beyond the current Teocalli Bowl that is within ski area boundaries and has future plans for lift and terrain expansion into the drainage below, if approved once plans and permitting being.

It is an exciting time for the resort and its guests to get back there, check it out and see the opportunities within the resort’s 2013 Master Development Plan with the US Forest Service. Teo 2 brings an additional 40 acres of extreme skiing terrain to CBMR, with pillow drops, steep tree lines and finishing out with a mellow open bowl of fresh powder.

Teo 2 is accessed by taking the High Lift T-Bar, which will open promptly at 9 a.m. when the resort opens this Saturday and requires a hike out of the area to return to the main part of the mountain. The resort’s beacon policy will be in effect for the rope drop, where the first 50 people with beacons will be given priority in line.

“Needless to say, we are excited to have the opportunity to open Teo 2 to the public,” explains Ethan Mueller, president of CBMR. “But we are also excited to ski it with all the powder that has been sitting back there waiting for us all season long. It’s going to be excellent skiing back there.”
