CBMBA Overnight Trailwork Weekend Starts Tomorrow!

trailwork

Have you heard? The Overnight Weekend is this weekend, August 24th and 25th!!!

Photos and Words: CBMBA

CBMBA is a building a beautiful new trail that will connect trails 409 and 409.5. The Point Lookout Trail will be an amazing addition to the Cement Creek trail system. CBMBA members have already begun the hard work of flagging and building the trail, but we really need to mobilize the troops if we want to get this done!

We will have an awesome camp set up in Farris Creek at the base of 409 and 409.5. Rim Tours will generously spoil us with incredible food (dinner, breakfast and sack lunch fixings on Sunday) and New Belgium will supply the adult beverages.  To get here drive out Brush Creek Road and turn right up Strand Hill Road. Continue up and take the turnoff on the right toward Farris Creek, head through a gate (please close it) and down the hill where you will see us at the bottom.) The road is high clearance and steep with some rocks, 4WD recommended if it rains.

Get to camp early Saturday as we will be starting our hike in around 9 am. The hike in on 409 to the new trail is approximately 3 miles, so please bring a pack with plenty of water, food, and rain gear. There will be a kid friendly option to work on 409 much closer to camp, so please bring the whole family out too.   Come for the weekend, come for a day, or just come for an hour, but please come out and help us build this trail!  For those of you who are just coming out for the day on Saturday, there will be an option to meet at the Caves Trailhead at 9am and hike in from there.

The tools will be brought in by the Forest Service and their team of burros, so we can all enjoy the hike in without carrying a heavy load.

Please RSVP so that we can make sure we have enough food for everyone. Contact CBMBA at crestedbuttemountainbikeassoc@yahoo.com and let us know that you’re coming for the day or the weekend. We look forward to seeing you and your friends and family for another fantastic trail work weekend!
