This past Friday, Aaron Blunck got good news from Ben Verge, the newly appointed head development coach for the US Freeskiing Team.  Aaron has been named to US Freeskiing Development Team, getting one step closer to his dream of representing his country at the Olympics.  The US Freeskiing Team was created after the International Olympic Committee’s long-awaited decision to add halfpipe and slope style skiing to the docket at the 2014 Olympic Games at Sochi.

Following the establishment of the US Freeskiing Team, the US Freeskiing Development Team was created to offer training and resources for the up and coming American skiers trying to make the world stage.  Aaron will attend team orientation in June at the USSA‘s Center For Excellence in Park City, UT.  Being on the team means Aaron will have access to the training facility, attend various on-snow and dry land training sessions, and have some financial support to continue competing.  Right now, the US Freeskiing Team include the likes of Torin Yater-Wallace, David Wise, and Tucker Perkins, who are friends of Aaron.  Aaron hopes his work with the development team can earn him a spot amongst his friends and role models.  Being on the development team will give Aaron more opportunities to ski with guys like that, Aaron says “they always make me push myself and ski the best I can.”

As of right now,  Aaron will continue training in Vail during the winter and travel to Park City and US Freeskiing Team training sessions as necessary.  This is a tremendous opportunity for Aaron and we are so stoked for him!  Check out his season edit we posted recently here.
